Harvey Has Asthma – Harvey’s First Awareness Video

We just finished our first Asthma Awareness video and Harvey loved every minute

As well as blogging about daily life with cats (the good, the bad and the totally gross) I’d also like to share our experiences with Feline Asthma, with the aim of raising awareness around the condition and hopefully helping other asthmatic cats, both diagnosed and yet to be diagnosed.

Much like Asthma in Humans, Feline Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the small passageways of the lungs. When asthma attacks occur, these passageways constrict and make it difficult to breathe. These asthma attacks can be brought on by stress, allergens, mildew and heat, among other things.

Harvey struggles with regular asthma attacks but since his diagnosis in 2014 he has started taking daily medication, administered via an inhaler, to reduce lung inflammation and keep his attacks to a minimum. As a result he’s much happier and healthier and living life to the full.

Despite being one of the most commonly diagnosed respiratory conditions in cats, many people are not aware the condition exists and as a result, many cats remain undiagnosed until their symptoms become critical, as was the case with Harvey.

I’ll be posting more information on Feline Asthma and Harvey’s story in the coming weeks and months but as you can see, Harvey loves his inhaler and he’s feeling better than ever before!

Thanks for watching and stay tuned for future updates from Harvey and the rest of the Cats or Death Trio
